Research

My primary area of research focuses on multiple myeloma and other hematologic malignancies, including the use of stem cell transplantation. I am a member of the Washington University/Siteman Cancer Center MGUS-Multiple Myeloma Program. This program is comprised of a multidisciplinary group of investigators who focus their research efforts on multiple myeloma and other plasma cell dyscrasias. I have served on the National Comprehensive Cancer Network Multiple Myeloma Guidelines panel since its inception in 1997.

I am Co-Director of the Amyloid Center of Excellence at Washington University which focuses on research directed at this group of diseases.

My other focus is in the field of medical informatics. We are developing clinical and research databases for multiple myeloma, non-Hodgkin lymphoma and stem cell transplants. The software solutions will allow integration of data from legacy software systems, anonymized tissue banks and laboratory data to facilitate patient care along with translation and clinical research.
