My clinical and research interests are in myeloid neoplasms (MN), including acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS), with a particular focus on understanding their precursors. I am specifically interested in identifying the factors driving the development of MN and the mechanisms by which clonal hematopoiesis (CH) progresses to overt malignancy. Patients whose CH advances are often diagnosed with clonal cytopenia of undetermined significance (CCUS), a condition carrying a high risk of transformation to MN for which no preventative therapies currently exist. My ongoing research aims to develop strategies to block the progression from CH and CCUS to MN. To address this critical unmet need, I am involved in clinical trials investigating novel targeted therapies designed to prevent the development of MN in high-risk CCUS patients.”
