Dr. Abboud’s research is focused on acute leukemia, stem cell transplant and cellular therapies. He has an interest in immune based therapies and novel associated toxicities such as the cytokine release syndrome (CRS). In addition, his work includes modeling and inhibition of the Janus Kinase/Signal Transducer and Activator of Transcription (JAK/STAT) pathway in order to make cellular therapies safer and more effective. He currently serves as a laboratory based investigator and a primary investigator for investigator initiated clinical trials.
His clinical research focuses on haploidentical transplantation and reducing graft versus host disease (GVHD) and CRS in this transplant platform. His laboratory research focuses on invariant natural killer T-Cells, a T-cell subset that bridges innate and adaptive immune responses, as well as other platforms to boost the effects of other cellular therapies.
