Research
Currently, I split my time between directing a basic science research lab and taking care of patients with hematologic malignancies, both on our inpatient bone marrow transplant service and in an outpatient clinic. In the lab we use a variety of approaches including genomic analysis of primary samples, mouse modeling including patient-derived xenografts, and in vitro culture of primary samples to study the molecular pathogenesis of blood cancers, with a special focus on understanding the mechanisms of leukemia relapse after stem cell transplantation. Current research projects include studying the role of MHC class II downregulation in AML that relapses after transplant, studying the role of wild type and mutant WT1 in AML, and developing new cellular therapies such as CAR-T cells for AML.
